Good deck maintenance starts with keeping the deck clean. Keeping the it free from dirt, leaves and other debris, and regularly moving planters, pots and other deck furniture will help your deck remain dry. We recommend that at least once each year you scrub your deck with soapy water, and then hose it off. This simple maintenance process will help keep your deck in good condition and prolong the life of the stain or oil surface coating.
You do not need to use a water blaster or power washer to wash your deck. In fact, the water blaster can damage the decking and other Cedar on your home.
Protecting your decking timber and other Cedar on your property also requires a protective coating. For decks we recommend using a clear coat of Dryden WoodOil, as this is easy to maintain. For other timber and Cedar features on your home we will recommend a timber stain or wood oil best suited to your property.
